What a lovely and uplifting post. Last week I spoke on an environmental panel at a senior living facility and it made me so happy to meet and talk with older people who continue to be actively hopeful and engaged in making the world a better place! Other things making me happy lately include the song of wood thrushes at dawn, birthday cake, the greenness of spring, and snuggles with my cat Whiskeroo.

Whiskeroo is a great name! 😀

Ooh jar donations, excellent. I'm running out of space to store all of mine currently, but as my SIL is coming for the first time soon we have just put up our pasting table with a giant tablecloth on it to hide boxes underneath and my partner suggested something like that stayed permanently and I could put jars and bottles under it 🩷

I love this post, Cat, thanks for this glimpse into your world. Especially love the cake cupboard (how delightful) and the forest commute, so beautiful. Gorgeous pics too. Little things that have made me happy lately: hearing the chuck-chuck of willy wagtails or seeing a kookaburra fly down from a branch onto the grass where it's spied a worm - while I'm working at my desk (the outside world is so close when you're in a tiny house!), teaching myself to crochet (to make a few cotton dishcloths for myself and friends) and listening to the drumming rain when I'm lying in my bed loft (it's been raining a lot lately). Thanks for the prompt :-)

Thanks for sharing your positive vibes 😊 I hope I can come across a friendly jar donator one day! You can never have too many!

I'm running out of space to store them all! 😆 I did manage to fill 22 jars on Friday which was very good - the supermarket had reduced oraganic carrots so I bought a heap and pressure canned them. It's good to be filling rather than just emptying jars again.

Filling 22 jars in one day is no mean feat 🙌 I know what you mean about space for them all. I’ve got the corner under our garage for filled and empty jars as a sort of pantry, but could do with expanding a bit 😅 And that’s without your quantity of preserves and containers by the sound of things 😊

It’s so important to find the pleasures, this is a good reminder and lovely read with my Sunday morning cuppa 🤩

I needed to hear that song. Please thank your husband for me for that. 5 things: Paco’s incredible intuition for when I need a cuddle, mammatus clouds before a storm, my partner’s laugh, chimney swifts, and music.

Cats always know when cuddles are required, don't they? 🐈‍⬛🐈

oh and I also found a gorgeous hairy sausage when I was out walking Ruadh, love caterpillars, and same walk I saw dippers and grey wagtails on the river, slightly obsessed with birds at the moment , all that beautiful birdsong

5 things that have made me happy recently, a Blackcap singing in my garden, the bluebells on my scenic walk to work(if im not running late and then I have to hoof it along the road) first flowers on some of my tomato plants. joining a Zumba class with my friend Kate, we,re crap but we both come out with huge smiles on our faces and the sun has actually made an appearance the last few days although we did have hail on Wednesday :)

Liked Tonys song , made me smile xx

This post was a joy to read! Thank you so much for sharing these lovely things that have made you happy. A wonderful reminder that often the smallest things make the biggest difference - even if that thing is just a free jar... Five things I am grateful for today are: a dog called Finn who is really sweet and loves to play despite his old age, having friends who I've known all my life, some rain this afternoon, and having a taco dinner tonight with the forementioned friends!
